Danie (ZS3D) List

Description of the ZS3D / Danie Net

This is a Direct Link to the current web based list.

We encourage web registration and the list will be created starting at 02:30 online and via radio. We will advise any further changes.

This is an open net and has been in operation since December 2009. We normally take names on 7156 (+- qrm) from 02:30Z until net time daily. The list is kept on a web based server and is closed just prior to Danie coming on the air. It is also easy to Register on this site. Entries are reviewed daily during net time and added to the list prior to 03:00 Z. Danie has access to the list from the internet. He then calls the list participants in turn and if both parties communicate signal reports and greetings can be exchanged.

We ask that participants keep the initial contact to "This is ...... , Danie do you copy?

WSPR Hints to Estimate Propagation

Between 0200 and 0300Z, visit http://wsprnet.org/drupal/wsprnet/map and enter ZS3D in the call sign box. Zoom the map to your part of the world and look for WSPR transmitters that Danie is hearing located near you. Then go to http://wsprnet.org/drupal/wsprnet/spots and enter the callsign of the station near you in the "Call" box and ZS3D in the "Reporter" box. Over time you can generate a correlation between how Danie reports this WSPR station with how he can hear you on SSB. Your SSB power and the power of the WSPR transmitter will influence the results. For me in Southern California, Larry, W6LVP who authored this advice, found that a WSPR SNR report for his 5 watt transmitter from Danie of -17 or better is necessary to establish a Q5 SSB contact running about 900 watts. Your individual mileage may vary. There are four WSPR transmitters dedicated to support this initiative: K4APC in Atlanta, K5KWG in East Texas, W5GHU/7 in Southern Arizona, and W6LVP in Southern California. .
